Hermes AI Agent
Hermes AI Agent is a personal AI automation assistant that connects to Google Workspace. It lets its user read, summarise, organise and manage their own Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Sheets data — using plain-language instructions instead of clicking through each app manually.
Learn what it does Privacy PolicyPurpose of this application
Hermes AI Agent exists to remove repetitive manual work from day-to-day knowledge work. A single user — the owner of the Google Account that authorises the app — asks the assistant to perform a task in natural language, and Hermes AI Agent carries it out against that user's own Google Workspace data.
Typical things the application does:
- Email management — search, read, summarise, label and draft replies in the user's own Gmail mailbox.
- Document generation — create and update Google Docs from notes, meeting transcripts or source material the user supplies.
- Spreadsheet automation — append rows, build reports and keep recurring Google Sheets ledgers up to date.
- Calendar coordination — check availability, create events and send meeting invitations from the user's own calendar.
- File organisation — locate, download and organise files in the user's own Google Drive.
What it does
Gmail
Search and read mail, summarise threads, apply labels and prepare drafts.
Google Drive
Find, retrieve and organise the user's own files and folders.
Google Calendar
Check availability, create events and schedule meetings.
Google Docs
Draft, generate and edit documents from supplied source material.
Google Sheets
Append records, run calculations and maintain recurring reports.
Contacts
Read the user's own contacts to address mail and invitations correctly.
Hermes AI Agent also runs locally on the user's own machine alongside the assistant desktop/agent runtime. Any processing that can be done locally is done locally.
Google account access & permissions
To work with Google Workspace, Hermes AI Agent asks the user to authorise access via Google's standard OAuth 2.0 consent screen. The application requests the following scopes, and each one is used only to carry out the instruction the user has given:
| Scope | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
gmail.readonly |
Read the user's own messages so they can be searched and summarised. |
gmail.modify |
Apply labels and manage messages in the user's own mailbox. |
gmail.send |
Send replies or messages only when the user explicitly requests it. |
drive |
Locate, read and organise files in the user's own Google Drive. |
calendar |
Read availability and create events in the user's own calendar. |
documents |
Create and edit Google Docs on the user's behalf. |
spreadsheets |
Read and update Google Sheets the user owns or works with. |
contacts.readonly |
Resolve names and addresses when drafting mail or invitations. |
How it works
- The user installs and runs the Hermes AI Agent assistant on their own machine.
- The user signs in with Google and grants the scopes listed above on Google's own consent screen.
- The user gives an instruction in natural language — for example "summarise unread mail from this week and put it in a Google Doc".
- Hermes AI Agent calls the relevant Google Workspace API on the user's behalf and returns the result.
- The user can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
